Storm Surge Report

Report Highlights

2014 Storm Surge - Homes at Risk of Storm-Surge Damage: 6.5M+

The 2014 CoreLogic storm surge analysis features estimates on both the number and reconstruction value of single-family homes exposed to hurricane-driven storm surge damage within the United States. Storm surge is a complex phenomenon that occurs when water is pushed toward the shore through the force of powerful winds associated with cyclonic storms. New insights within the 2014 analysis include:

  • Two rankings of coastal states by both total reconstruction value and total number of homes exposed to storm surge risk
  • Additional breakdowns of property-level risk exposure at the regional and local Core Based Statistical Area (CBSA) levels
  • Expanded data to include additional categories under the single-family residence classification and reconstruction valuation data from Marshall & Swift/Boeckh™
