National Home Prices Increased 6 Percent Year Over Year in July 2016

The 2016 home price index shows that national home prices appreciated 6.0 percent from a year ago, and are now just 6.0 percent below the April 2006 peak. Prices are forecasted to increase by 5.4 percent over the next year, indicating that prices will be back to their peak level in 2017. Prices on the low end are appreciating the fastest, with the lowest priced homes appreciating almost twice as fast as the highest priced homes.
