To deliver a credit report or score, we must verify a consumer’s identity through a series of questions based on the content of the consumer’s credit file. We use Experian’s authentication model for online authentication, which is accepted by all three credit-reporting agencies. The authentication tool instantly verifies the consumer’s identity while the consumer is conducting secure transactions online and at call centers.
Our authentication process is quick and easy to comprehend for all consumers. By answering four or five out-of-pocket questions, consumers will have verified their identity and will be able to purchase any credit-related products associated with their credit file. Along with online authentication, manual (verbal) authentication is available to ensure our partners provide service to as many consumers as possible.
