The CoreLogic HPI for October 2018 shows that home prices increased by 5.4 percent from a year ago. October data marked the fourth consecutive month of annual HPI gains below 6 percent. The sluggish appreciation will likely continue, with the CoreLogic HPI forecast predicting appreciation of 4.8 percent by October 2019. The slowing of appreciation is happening at all price levels, though the two lowest price tiers still show appreciation above 6 percent. Nevada had the highest increase in prices, logging a 12.1 percent year-over-year gain in October. On the low end, North Dakota was the only state to show an annual decrease in prices, falling by 1.2 percent.
