The CoreLogic HPI for April 2019 showed that home prices increased 3.6% nationwide from a year ago. The April increase was a slowdown from the 6.6% appreciation rate from April 2018. However, April’s gain was up slightly from the gain in March, so it appears that home price growth is beginning to flatten out. Down to the state level, Idaho came in with the highest appreciation for the seventh consecutive month, posting a 10.3% gain in April. On the other end, North Dakota experienced a 5% decrease in prices, making this the tenth consecutive month of annual HPI decreases for this state.
