The CoreLogic Home Price Index for November 2019 shows U.S. home prices increased 3.7% from a year earlier and are forecasted to increase 5.3% over the next year. While 2019 home price gains were modest, home prices posted impressive gains in the eight and a half years since the start of the housing recovery. Overall, nationwide home prices increased 63% from March 2011 and gains varied by price segment. Higher-priced homes had a cumulative home price gain of 49%, but lower-priced homes posted gains of 97% since the bottom. Strong demand and low supply of homes for sale – especially at lower price levels – have contributed to strong price increases.
